This week I am GUSHING with pride over the incredible contingent of badasses graduating from my 3 month immersion. They began in April and to see the progress these powerhouses have made is SO F*CKING INSPIRING. I can’t even tell y’all how stoked I am to continue sharing this work with changemakers. ⁣ ⁣ So you may be asking yourself: how do you know when you’re ready for a voice doula? Five years ago tonight I performed my first original solo theater piece, “Lightyear”. It worked on me for 2 years and I performed it once to a sold-out theater in North Carolina. It was hands down one of the best nights of my life. This photo was taken during my final bow and captures its essence.⁣ ⁣ Today I am excited (and nervous and so many other things) to announce that this September I will debut my second original solo theater piece, “Beneath My Skin: A Ceremonial Exploration of Gospel, Whiteness and God” in Oakland. This show has been working on me for over 4 years and has taken me on a deep journey through what is nearest and dearest to my soul. The gestation has been long, at times quite painful, and incredibly humbling. A few weeks ago it became clear that it’s time to let it be born. ⁣ ⁣ Bay Area, I look forward to creating the church of our wildest dreams together. It will be a new moon, a time of release. Releasing the ways whiteness has hurt all of us and creating space for God to teach us what interconnectedness sounds like. ⁣ ⁣ More info soon 🎹💋♥️
